A Sunday Tale
Of Two Cursed Kings
Both guys were born rich. One is a myth and cautionary tale in time. The other is a legend in his own mind and a current disaster. Both are cursed by the results of evil tutelage.
Everything Midas touched turned to gold. Everything Trump touches turns to ashes and dung. Midas grieved. Trump profits.
Midas and Silenus
In the 2nd millennium BC, well before the Trojan War, Midas, by chance and circumstance reigning as king of Pessinus, was moving through an easy life when he befriended a satyr named Silenus.
He found Silenus sleeping off a serious drunk in his royal gardens.
Midas recognized him and treated him hospitably, entertaining him for ten days and nights with politeness, while Silenus delighted Midas and his friends with stories and songs.[19] On the eleventh day, he took Silenus back to Dionysus in Lydia. Dionysus offered Midas his choice of whatever reward he wished for. Midas asked that whatever he might touch should be changed into gold.
Midas rejoiced in his new power, which he hastened to put to the test. He touches an oak twig and a stone; both turned to gold. Overjoyed, as soon as he got home, he touched every rose in the rose garden, and all became gold. He ordered the servants to set a feast on the table. Upon discovering how even the food and drink turned into gold in his hands, he regretted his wish and cursed it. Claudian states in his In Rufinum: "So Midas, king of Lydia, swelled at first with pride when he found he could transform everything he touched to gold; but when he beheld his food grow rigid and his drink harden into golden ice then he understood that this gift was a bane and in his loathing for gold, cursed his prayer."[20]

Trump and Cohn
After 20 years of chasing down persons suspected of having ties to the Communist party, Roy Marcus Cohn became a prominent political fixer in New York City in the 1980s.[3][4] Cohn caught Fred Trump’s ever avaricious eye. He hired Cohn to help his son, Donald, succeed in the New York real estate market. This involved lessons in the fine art of making a lot of money without reference to rule of law or common decency. Roy represented and mentored Donald Trump during Trump's early business career.[5]

Cohn taught Trump how to weaponize the legal system. Deny, delay, disappear. Cohn died from AIDS in 1986. His immoral “Win, win, win” mindset lives on, triumphant, in the 47th president of these barely United States of America.
From 1973 until he was elected president in 2016, Donald Trump and his businesses were involved in over 4,000 legal cases in United States federal and state courts, including battles with casino patrons, million-dollar real estate lawsuits, personal defamation lawsuits, and over 100 business tax disputes.[1] He has also been accused of sexual harassment and sexual assault,[2][3] with one accusation resulting in him being held civilly liable.[4] One case involved a 13 year old child.

Trump cannot seem to rise above Cohn’s predatory lessons. He now is a poster child for boorish behavior and dangerous self-aggrandizement.
The Secret Sauce
Trump is cursed.
We the People are the cure.
Most of We the People are hard-working simple souls. A significant number of us are steeped in heritage and honed by life experiences to treasure life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Sure, there are some among us who wear a mask of righteousness while planning and committing acts of incredible indecency. The Bible rightly observes that rain falls without discrimination, fear, or favor on both the just and unjust. This is a high and righteous standard of observable fact to which reporting under the rule of law long has aspired.
Over 90 per cent of We the People are members of the underclass from which persons, institutions, and organizations in a position of advantage profit. It is the sweat of our brow, the dreams of our minds, and the songs and images of our souls that inform and illuminate mankind’s advancement.
Each of us is the Power of One.
How we chose to use our persons and our purses is very important at this time in history.
Trump needs our permission to govern. The results of Election 2024 do not bless his actions or give unbridled permission to the implementation of the Project 2025 playbook.
Yes, I am gong to be in a world of hurt if my monthly social security check is delayed, diminished, or discontinued. Those unhappy circumstances very likely will raise me past private grumbling to a participation in public outcry events I heretofore have scrupulously avoided.
My ire is the secret sauce of Trump’s demise and Project 2025’s defeat.
The Famous Bottom Line
Every person, institution, and organization that rolled over before the possibility of being a target of Trump’s Time of Terror and Tour of Revenge was looking beyond their immediate survival. They sacrificed honor and common decency to the ever-important bottom line on the ledger of their business endeavor. Their personal brand was more important than the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, the Bill of Rights, and every advancement toward a more perfect union since this experiment in enlightened self-rule was imagined almost 250 years ago.
I admit it. I hold a very modest number of shares in various business operations here and abroad. I am not a bit confused. Such dividends as these investments may provide are paltry in size and abhorrent in principle to the source, nature, and size of my monthly “entitlement” for 59 years of mandatory (and heavily discounted) contributions to my own present comfort and security.
Billionaires concerned about their bottom line have no idea how short-sighted that concern can become when the underclass needs food, water, shelter, health care, and safety for themselves, their family, and their friends.
Here’s my bottom line.
Government of the people, by the people, and for the people will not perish on my watch.
I suspect I am legion.
Work around that, Roy Cohn and John Roberts.
See you at the ballot box and recall referendums for non-responsive members of congress.

John Roberts has been touched by Trump and will reap all he deserves, just like the rest of the Court, the congressional sycophants, and the entire MAGA cult. What a sad fate for them all. And the biggest clown of them all will get to watch everyone and everything around him turn to cold, hard sh!t, mirroring him in every slick surface.
What a foul harvest, Trish!!! As you so often remark, karma ain't necessarily pretty.
