It Won’t Work

Donald John Trump is a little man with a huge ego.
He tells the world what he wants it to believe about his nature, character, ambitions, and actions. MAGA cult members accept and parrot the parts of his delusional spiel that soothe their troubled minds and damaged souls. They forgive/forget, and captive or cowed news sources sane wash, the most disturbing parts of his traveling Tour of Revenge amid his promised Time of Terror.
A Problem
The Mad King has a problem begging remedy.
Not truth—he has and deploys alternate facts as needed and at will.
Not memory—he is the product and benefactor of a 24-hour public attention span.
Not history—he is the victor. It is his to write. He is requiring that history mirror his preferred image of himself.
Nope. His problem is accountability.
Dimensions of a Problem
Ding Dong Donny’s lack of moral compass and distain for impulse control are a matter of public record. His addiction to criminal acts and misdemeanor conduct are problematic. He cannot, will not, and has no discernable intent to, change his character or habits.
The images the Mad King prefers and disseminates are of the fun house variety. They are distorted by imperfections in the viewing surface. Alternate facts and self-serving untruths warp the image of the moment. Erratic “transactional” postures and results leave a trail of weakness, uncertainty, and damage which cannot be allowed to be articulated, much less prosecuted.
Arrogant Idiocy
In TrumpWorld the only thing worse than the imperative to explain away any unfortuante consequence of his own arrogant conduct is having to expend political capital on neutralizing the idiocy of a henchman patently unqualified for the position of responsible authority in which the Mad King insisted the asshat be installed.
Damage Control
Richard Milhous Nixon was not a common garden variety crook. He was a cowardly liar who, in furtherance of his own ambitions and visions, betrayed the customary trust in the integrity of the person holding his high office. His actions related to the burglary at Watergate were a cautionary tale that shocked Congress into precautionary measures.
The Presidential Records Act (PRA) was enacted on 04 Nov 78, to mandate the preservation of all presidential records. The PRA changed the legal ownership of the President’s official records from private to public. It established a new statutory structure under which Presidents are compelled to manage their records. Congress amended the PRA in 2014 to prohibit electronic records through non-official accounts unless an official account is copied on the transmission, or a copy is forwarded to an official account shortly after. (Emphasis added.)
It is bad enough that the Secretary of Defense is spilling attack plans near and far on a commercial communication channel. It is worse, far worse, that measures were taken to erase the record of those “chat” events. When they occurred. Who participated. What was discussed. What actions were planned or taken.
The Remedy
The Teflon Don already got his fingers burned for stashing national secrets in the toilet room at Mar-a-Lago during his interregnum. Once burned, destroy fire.
The remedy is clear. Amnesia by edict. One self-serving executive order would deny the PRA as applicable to Trump 2.0. It would endorse running edits of actuality. It would protect the Mad King and all his misogynic men and subservient women. Their shadow world of incipient authoritarianism would have cover.
That’s why God invented a sharpie.
The Teflon Don will not repeat Tricky Dick’s strategic errors.
· Loyalty. He will not stay loyal to his lieutenants. He will fire them, rather than protect them.
· Responsibility. He will not allow a direct tie between his agenda and implementation of it.
Anthem
Donny the Dodger can run. He cannot hide from our instant memory and a determination to let a true accounting of our times live in honest history.
The illegal handling of presidential records during his interregnum and the current attempts to avoid sight of and accountability for executive actions are real. There IS “something to see” here.
The Teflon Don just might stick to his impulsive pattern of hiring and firing staff without warning as a display of purpose, vision, and strength. If he seeks to protect himself formally and preemptively from the PRA, an executive order is easier than getting a supportive act from his compliant Congress and less risky than a pleading before his captive and partisan Supreme Court.
More peaceful No King protests were visible and successful this past Easter weekend. Hats off to those who planned, supported, and attended these visible signs of a growing resistance to Trump 2.0.
These are interesting times. We the People now must wait for the next exciting chapter in the Clash of the Titans (between the imperial executive and his corrupt high court). Will the 7-2 margin of sanity and sound jurisprudence hold? Will Thomas and Alito be allowed to continue to participate? Stand by time on these questions likely will be brief.
It is important to remember that Donald John Trump believes “only the weak will fail.”
Let us be faithful, strategic, and strong in our resistance to the fact and effects of his Reign of Terror and Tour of Revenge.
Let us pull up our socks and step into the breach now, every Power of One person dissatisfied with the results and consequences of Election 2024.
Let us put into play our persons and our purses to demand:
A return to positions of principle those persons, institutions, and organizations betraying a public trust in their integrity when bending a knee, kissing the ring, funding the personal wealth, or furthering the ambitions of Donald John Trump.
The bringing of criminal charges against Musk and articles of impeachment against Trump.
The bringing of articles of impeachment against corrupt justices now contaminating the opinions of the high court.
Referendum and recall of congressional representatives not faithful to their oath of office and/or unresponsive to the concerns and wishes of their constituents.
Creation of a Shadow Cabinet charged with daily briefings of administrative assaults upon the rule of law, the health, safety, and welfare of We the People, and simple decency.
Course correction on the conduct of matters related to national security.
I truly believe that right is might.
In a world where “only the weak will fail,” let us be strong.
We cannot, we will not, fail.
The big picture, not the details, comes first. The Trump administration has ONE purpose, and they told everyone what it was before election day--dictatorship and do away with everything that matters to YOU. As you have repeated every week, the individual must have a plan and get out of whatever silo you've built your whole life. Yes, it's a great interruption to the plans you had for yourself, your family, and your future, and the big picture truth is Trump does not care, On the plus side, each of us can come up with strategies of resilience and resistance because Trump is PREDICTABLE. It's not as unstable or fragmented as it appears; instead, you said it best: He cannot, will not, and has no discernible intent to change his character or habits.
We the People know exactly what he's going to keep doing. What we control is what we (you) are going to do differently, better, or with greater intelligence that puts the future in our hands?
